What a great weekend we had! On Saturday our friends Shane and Lori got married in what was easily one of the best weddings I have ever been to. I'll post some photos as soon as I manage to get them off of Kelly's sister's camera, but just to paint the picture: It was a costume wedding, with all the guests in costumes. The ceremony was held at the site of the Old LA Zoo, in one of the old bear caves. And the officiant was dressed as Elvis in a bear suit. A man named Hannibal with an amethyst in the middle of his forehead sang "Your Song," Shane wore a killer sort of rockabilly suit with alligator skin boots, and Lori was absolutely stunning in a blue Quinceañera dress that they modified to turn into a very piratey ensemble complete with rhinestone skull and crossbones on her back and long feather in her hat. It was amazing, uniquely them, and, above all else, truly heartfelt. Their vows were perhaps the most honest, beautiful vows I've heard at a wedding (except my own, of course!)The Quinceañera dress reminds me that I never posted anything about our neighbor's daughter's Quinceañera, which we went to a couple weeks back. A lot has happened lately and I haven't really had much time for any substantial blogging (not to mention that, as Wil Wheaton says, it's tough to write a blog and a novel at the same time). It was tons of fun and I will post photos soon. Basically, there will be a catchup post in the next week sometime.
But first things first. It was a great weekend! Saturday was the wedding, and Sunday was Tristan's first time on the swings at the park as well as his first trip to the pumpkin patch!
As is my way, I have put together a little video of the day's adventures. Enjoy!
